C&C Names New Board Leadership and Gives Thanks for Those Retiring

As the 2023-24 school year comes to a close, the City and Country School Board of Trustees has announced upcoming role and position changes for the 2024-25 school year. Trustees play an integral role in the health of the institution, with fiduciary responsibility and generative work on behalf of C&C.

Josh Cender P’23, who has been Chair for the last three years, announced that this year is his last in that capacity. Deeply caring and committed to City and Country, Josh assumed the Chair position in the thick of COVID recovery. He has presided over the Board’s focus on diversifying in both gender and race and also led the new head of school search that brought Dr. Frank Patti to C&C. Previous leadership roles at C&C have included the Board of Trustees Finance Committee Chair and President of the Parents Association. For both former C&C Principal Scott Moran and current Principal Frank Patti, Josh has been a pragmatic, thoughtful, and trustworthy confidant and advisor. The school is incredibly grateful for his support and thrilled that he will continue to serve our community on the Board of Trustees.

City and Country is delighted to announce that Tracey Mumford P‘28, ‘30, ‘33, ‘35 will serve as our next Board Chair. Already a valued and trusted advocate, Tracey has been a Trustee since 2022, a parent admissions ambassador, and an active member of the Parents Association. To C&C, she brings not only her experiences as a parent but also her experiences in both finance and non-profit leadership.

“One of the qualities I appreciate most is her ability to value different perspectives and ideas openly,” said Frank. “Her ideals embody our ethos.”

“Being at the school for six years and with four children here, I feel very invested,” Tracey said. “I love C&C’s humble nature, and it feels good to send my kids here every day. They get to be themselves; the teachers and families are so special. I look forward to the opportunity to help preserve our traditions and strengthen relationships within the community.”

At the June 4, 2024, Board of Trustees meeting, Jennifer Sage ‘70 P’04, ’07, ’11, who served on C&C’s Board for more than 20 years, parent representative Susan Kane P’24, ’27, and faculty representatives Megan Lau P’32 (IIIsM) and Tyler Tarnowicz (XIIIs) were thanked for their service to the Board as their terms have concluded. The Board elected three new members: Director of Admissions & Enrollment Management at Friends Seminary Nisa Bryant, Emily Essner P’32, and Brendan Kiely P’33. In the coming days, the C&C parent body will vote to select Jessica Tamberlane P’27 as the parent representative, who is running unopposed. Two new faculty representatives will be appointed when we return from summer break.
