Admissions Frequently Asked Questions
What is your birthday cut-off date? The birthday cut-off date for our 2s and 3s Groups is August 1. For all other Groups, October 1 is our birthday cut-off date. Children must be the age of the Group that they would be entering by the cut-off date. For example, a child entering the 3s would need to be three years old before August 1.
What is the typical group size? 2s Groups have 10 children; 3s have approximately 15. 4s and older usually have 18 children in each Group. We are currently expanding to double Groups at each age through the 12s.
What kind of child is well suited for City and Country? Given our emphasis on both independent and group problem solving, children with solid language and social skills thrive at C&C. Children who rely heavily on repetitive teacher direction or who are challenged by a significant social-relatedness or language-processing difficulty may find our program too challenging.
Do certain applicants receive special priority? Yes, sibling and legacy applicants are given priority and are eligible for Early Notification. Although sibling and legacy applicants are not guaranteed admission, it is our goal to admit as many as possible.
Where do your graduates go to high school? City and Country School has graduates in a wide range of the area high schools. High schools report that our graduates stand out as confident, original thinkers, remarkable problem-solvers and excellent writers and researchers. City and Country graduates are well prepared for high school, and are often leaders among their peers.
