Application Process: 5s – 13s Groups
The birthday cut-off date for children applying to these Groups is October 1.
5s and 6s Admissions (Kindergarten and First Grade)
Families are welcome to submit their completed application form between Tuesday, September 6 and December 1, 2011. It is not necessary to call the School the first day after Tuesday, September 6!
Families can choose to apply online, or download an application form and mail it to us.
Once we receive your application, the Admissions Office will contact you to schedule a morning C&C Info Session. This visit will give you a thorough look at our school, including a presentation about our program, a tour of our campus and a mingling session with current parents. It generally takes us 3 weeks to contact you after receiving your completed application.
Our annual Open House will be on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, from 6:00 – 8:00pm. If you are scheduled for an Info Session, you do not need to attend the Open House. The Open House is for families who apply after our daytime Info Sessions are fully booked, or for those who’d like to see the School before applying. Please know that Info Sessions tend to fill quickly; if we receive your application after all admissions events are booked, we will be happy to consider your application, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to schedule a tour for you.
Standardized testing is not required with an application for 5s and 6s. Your child’s school report and his or her school visit will usually provide sufficient information for an admissions decision. We will contact your child’s current school to request the report. (If your child has taken the ERB and you would like to share the results with us, we welcome all information.)
Your child’s visit is required as part of the admissions process. In December, you will receive a letter inviting your child to a playgroup. The playgroups will take place in January and early February 2012.
7s – 13s Admissions (2nd – 8th Grade)
Families are welcome to submit their completed application form between Labor Day and December 1, 2011. We will also see applicants on a rolling basis throughout the year as space becomes available.
Families can choose to apply online, or download an application form and mail it to us. It generally takes us 3 weeks to contact you after receiving your completed application.
As part of the admissions process, we invite your child to visit the School, and we invite you for a tour and a parent interview. Once we receive your application, we will contact you to make the arrangements. Applicants for the 7s will be invited to spend half of a day with us; 8s through the 13s applicants will be invited to spend a full day. This visit will give us a chance to get to know your child, as well as give your child a feel for what it would be like to attend C&C. Each applicant is also asked to do some screening work with us on that day.
If desired, in addition to the daytime tour, parents applying for the 7s – 13s are welcome to attend our annual Open House on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
ERB testing is required for all applicants for the 7s and older. The ERB administers testing for all ISAAGNY schools (Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York). Scheduling early is advisable (212-672-9800 or www.erbtest.org). We will contact your child’s current program to request a copy of his or her most recent school report.

A special note about our application form: We hope to make the application process manageable and minimally stressful. Our application has several open-ended questions that will help us to get to know you and your child. Please know that we expect only a couple of sentences as answers for these questions. Our goal is to make the best match that we can between a family and the School, and your answers help us to know if we have what you are looking for. Of course, we also keep in mind our goal of creating a diverse and balanced population.
